MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity Project

ISRN successfully implemented the USAID-funded MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity Project, aimed at strengthening the government’s efforts in COVID-19 vaccination and Routine Immunization (RI), with a strong focus on vulnerable populations. The project was implemented in five North-Eastern states—Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur.

ISRN reached over 1.1 million people, administering COVID-19 vaccines to 175,000 individuals and supporting 1,668 RI session sites. The project facilitated 82,900 RI doses and ensured 19,960 beneficiaries received routine immunizations, including 2,551 LODOR cases, with 2,320 children fully immunized. A key feature of this project was the development of 7 Model Immunization Centers at public health facilities, including Health and Wellness Centers (HWCs), and partnerships with private hospitals for COVID-19 vaccination.

Innovative community engagement activities like Baby Show, Immunization Reminder Cards, etc, played a pivotal role in driving participation and awareness, while extensive collaborations with various sectors further enhanced the program’s impact. This multi-pronged approach helped deliver critical health services to some of the most vulnerable populations in the region.

Family Planning & Intimate Partner Violence (FP-IPV) campaign: Sustaining health outcomes through the private sector (SHOPS) plus

ISRN, supported by USAID, conducted a campaign on Family Planning and Intimate Partner Violence across six states—Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Odisha, and Jharkhand—reaching 4,427 women for counselling and providing training to over 650 NGO officials, ASHA, AWW, outreach workers, volunteers, and private sector organizations on FP-IPV issues. Through this project, ISRN increased women’s access to family planning information among men and women of reproductive age group (18-29 years of age) and specifically women who are victims/survivors of intimate partner violence exacerbated due to COVID-19.

Leveraging HAAT platform for On Ground Awareness (OGA) on demand generation of Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCPs) with married women under sustaining health outcomes through the private sector (SHOPS) plus

India Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) facilitated implementation of leveraging HAAT for OGA on demand generation of OCPs with Married Women at 14 locations of Delhi, Assam, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa under SHOPs Plus Project The aim was to raise awareness among married women regarding OCPs and effective birth control methods. Across 14 locations, 5492 beneficiaries were reached out. The initiative marked a significant step in community-based family planning awareness, garnering overwhelming response and highlighting the ease and reliability of OCPs as a preferred contraceptive method.

Mobile Health Unit with CSR fund of Indraprastha Gas Limited

Provided health services to more than 60,000 beneficiaries from 28 locations of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, along with the training of 200 stakeholders. Under the project, healthcare services including OPD services, free diagnostic tests, screening of suspected TB patients and further referral to government health facilities for treatment, medicine distribution at the doorstep in the targeted communities were provided through Mobile Health Unit (MHU). Monthly multispecialty health camps with a team of 5-6 specialized health care doctors and services in the targeted communities were conducted. Community meetings on various communicable and non-communicable diseases were also done. Awareness by celebrating various national health days in the community through street plays were also conducted along with the capacity building of FLWs (AWW/ANM) on topics related to RMNCH+A, ANC, PNC, Family Planning, Food and Nutrition, etc.

Comprehensive Primary Health Care Camps with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited CSR

As part of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited’s (PGCIL) CSR initiative, health check-up camps were conducted at 95 locations across various states for the general public and villagers. ISRN, on behalf of PHDRDF, facilitated 14 of these camps across Karnataka, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Manipur, and Himachal Pradesh on the One Day One Time theme. The districts covered included Baloda Bazar, Durg, Raigarh, and Janjgir-Champa in Chhattisgarh; Gaya, Purnea, Patna, and Kaimur in Bihar; Ramanagara and Doddaballapura in Karnataka; Chamba, Hamirpur, and Solan in Himachal Pradesh; and Manipur West in Manipur. In addition to general health check-ups, these camps also offered eye check-ups, pathological tests, and free medicines along with talks on the importance of cleanliness. Over 4,000 people benefited from the camps facilitated by ISRN at these 14 locations.

Strengthening of Community / Primary health centre

Lightening up the Lives! – In India, Primary Health Centers (PHCs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs) constitute the backbone for providing rural health services to the local rural masses. But, the utility in providing health services is particularly restrained by the state of poor electricity supply in these areas.

ISRN has worked towards improving the overall health performances of selective Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centre (PHC) located in Rajasthan, by installing solar plants and providing 24/7 electricity for efficient functioning.

PROJECT PRERANA: PROMOTING EQUITY AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ACCESS FOR NORTH EAST INDIA

Funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, this five-year initiative is dedicated to strengthening sexual and reproductive health services in the eight northeastern states of India by developing innovative solutions and supporting local government, private sector and civil society. By co-designing locally relevant strategies and evidence-based family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) solutions for youth, PRERANA seeks to create a responsive health system to address sexual and reproductive health rights of youth through community participation and delivery of equitable, comprehensive, client-centered services. The project aims to significantly improve health outcomes for marginalized and vulnerable populations such as gender-based violence survivors and people living with HIV/AIDS. Apart from strengthening health systems and harnessing innovative models to increase the equitable delivery of quality, adolescent- and gender-responsive, resilient FP/RH and gender-based violence services in public and private sectors, PRERANA also works toward fostering vibrant, engaged, supportive and resilient communities that empower youth, women and vulnerable and marginalized populations, and effectively engage men and local leaders to shift community norms and attitudes, leading to increased demand and voluntary use of FP/RH services.

The Indian Social Responsibility Network is implementing the USAID-funded PRERANA project as a Lead CSO in Arunachal Pradesh. This initiative focuses on building vibrant, engaged, supportive, and resilient communities by empowering youth, women, and vulnerable and marginalized groups. It also seeks to actively involve men and local religious and cultural leaders to transform community norms and attitudes, fostering greater demand and voluntary adoption of Family Planning and Reproductive and Sexual Health services, while reducing early marriage and pregnancy rates in the state.

Asia Resilient Cities (ARC) Project

In collaboration with JSIPL, ISRN is working towards documentation of various aspects of USAID funded ARC project in Rajkot, Gujarat. ARC project is addressing cross-cutting urban development challenges in Rajkot by promoting sustainable urban growth; supporting resilient, low-carbon urban infrastructure; and integrating climate change and environmentally-conscious approaches.
